  • Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with Carla Jackson, one of Icon's Human Resources Assistants, to discuss productivity. Through your questions, you will learn how to measure productivity, the two factors that influence productivity, and ways to maintain a productive workforce.

Unit 2: Identifying Ways to Improve Productivity
Duration: 0.5 - 1 Hour(s)

  • Ask six questions that will help you identify ways to improve productivity.
  • List the three ways that a job process can be improved.
  • Follow the five guidelines that will help you conduct effective brainstorming sessions.
  • Take the appropriate steps after identifying a strategy for improving productivity.
  • Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with Eric Pullman, Icon's Customer Service Manager, and Julie Edwards and David Williamson, two of Icon's Customer Service Representatives. The purpose of this meeting is to address the recent decline in Icon's customer service ratings. As the Associate Vice President of Products and Services, it is your responsibility to help this team resolve any issues that are impeding their productivity.

  • List the different ways you can provide training for your employees.
  • Offer employees a variety of rewards for being productive.

  • Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with Maggie Roberts, Icon's Vice President of Products and Services, to discuss managerial support and its role in helping employees stay productive. Through your questions, you will learn about the three main types of support managers should provide and how to use each type to motivate your employees.

Unit 4: Addressing Common Productivity Problems

  • Help your employees manage their stress by following five guidelines.
  • Follow seven guidelines that will help you counsel your employees.
  • Assist your employees in resolving conflicts among one another.
  • Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with two of your employees to address some common productivity problems. First, you will meet with Cindy Berman, a Customer Service Representative, to resolve some of her stress-related productivity issues. Second, you will meet with Eric Pullman, the Customer Service Manager, to discuss his recent threat to withhold his department's bonus checks in an effort to improve productivity.
