  • Differentiate between autocratic and democratic managing styles.
  • Anticipate how employees will react to your new role as manager.
  • Simulation Overview:  In this simulation, you will meet with Carla Jackson, an Assistant in Icon's Human Resources Department. Through your questions, you will learn about the importance of having the right attitude as a manager, the different methods of management, how to develop your own management style, and what to expect when people learn that you are a new manager.

  • Simulation Overview:  In this simulation, you will meet with three of your employees for the first time to discuss their progress on each of Icon's major sales accounts. Nathan Iverson, Melissa Brown, and Luis Encinias, all Account Executives, have concerns and productivity issues that need to be resolved. During this simulation, you need to deal with their concerns and respond in an appropriate manner. Additionally, you need to confront a rumor that the Account Executives' sales quotas are increasing in the next few weeks.

If you accept these accounts, it could boost your district's sales and help you pass the quarterly sales quota. Melissa, Luis, and Nathan each have less complex accounts that could be transferred to less-experienced executives. You must gain the respect of your new employees while attempting to enhance the productivity of your district.

Melissa's performance level has dropped, and you have been receiving calls about the poor work Luis has been doing. Finally, you've recently learned that Nathan has been passing off some of his assignments to new executives. You must discover the source of your employees' problems, and then find agreeable solutions to enhance their productivity.
