In Virtual Teams: The Fundamentals, participants will learn the opportunities and challenges associated with participating in a virtual team. In addition, participants will learn the advantages and disadvantages of
working in an alternative office, the technologies used to communicate and make decisions in a virtual setting, and the obstacles virtual teams must overcome for success.

and what benefits can be gained from serving on a virtual team.
Unit 2: Working in an Alternative Office Duration: 0.5 - 1 Hour(s)
- Define 'telework'.
- List the main types of alternative office arrangements.
- Identify the benefits of teleworking.
- List the characteristics of a 'virtual pioneer'.
- Apply techniques to overcome the challenges of teleworking.
- Simulation Overview: In this simulation, you will meet with Carla Jackson, one of Icon's Human Resources Assistants, to discuss working in an alternative office.
Carla is interested in working from her home one or more days during the week. She has had an interest in telecommuting for several months, but she has
concerns about whether management will support her decision. It is your responsibility to discuss the challenges Carla will face and identify whether she has the skills needed to telecommute effectively.
Unit 3: Using Technology to Develop Virtual Teams Duration: 0.5 - 1 Hour(s)

what factors influence the technology used by a virtual team. You need to demonstrate that you have the knowledge to serve as the technical advisor to the Global Sales and Marketing Task Force.
Unit 4: Overcoming Obstacles to Virtual Teaming Duration: 0.5 - 1 Hour(s)

Sales, to discuss overcoming obstacles to virtual teaming. Ronald and Jessica are responsible for creating a virtual team to execute Icon's global sales and marketing
initiatives. It is your responsibility to help them identify obstacles that can impede a virtual team's progress and determine the cultural categories that will affect the
team's success. You must also give appropriate advice on the cultural considerations the team must overcome for success and for establishing trust
among the virtual team members. Finally, you need to identify and explain the factors that must exist for the virtual team to be successful.
